2015 GT Fuel Mileage
#52
Sea level and flat...what is that? I live at 5000' with lots of elevation changes and lots of wind, usually cross or head, rarely tail winds. My drive home was very windy with elevations close to 8000 feet. Who knows what kind of gas the seller had in it. So I can see 30 mpg at optimum conditions. The first video showed 2000 rpm, not sure which tranny he had.

As for the mountain thing, I can see winds playing with you but some of the best fuel economy I've ever gotten, be it a 4 wheeler or 2 wheeler has been up in the Colorado Rockies. High altitudes (>5000'), the air is thinner and the lower pressure, the fuel injection compensates and fuel economy should go up. At least is seems to for me. If you're getting such lousy gas mileage up there, you must really be a lead foot. Be glad you don't live closer to sea level!
As for the transmission, I'm not sure about the first video? The second video was driving an automatic and the third a manual.

All he was saying is, if you're willing to take it easy, the car will give it to you. He never said he drove it like that all the time. If I remember correctly, he also said that 18.7 included some track time or other aggressive driving? What kind of economy was he getting while doing that? You know how quickly a couple of really bad numbers will drag down the average and how hard it is to get it back up after the fact. Looking at in that light, the 18.7 doesn't sound that bad to me. He talked about that cross country to California and back. I'd be interested in seeing what he averaged on that trip?

Nobody is getting 30mpg with a 2015 mustang, stock from the factory or with a supercharger strapped to it. Maybe on one way of a trip where you are slowly losing elevation for a long time, like from Lake Tahoe to L.A. That situation isn't meaningful in this discussion.

I only drive 3 miles to work. So around 50 mile a week max with my driving and it is all heavy stop and go bro. When i drive fay away the avg goes up to around 20 or 21mpg. My modded C6 Vette would get 28mpg on the highway.
