OIL CONSUMPTION
#2
both my 2010 GT (4.6 liter) and my 2012 GT (5.0 liter) consumed one quart within the first 5,000 miles, and none thereafter. It's more or less normal for a brand new engine to use a little oil while everything is seating in. if it stays that way or gets worse, you'll probably want to have it looked at.

good to 60k miles or 5 years. so monitor it and i bet you will see the consumption go away by your 3rd oil change

The spec is 1 quart for every 3000 miles. You are ok. The 5.0L uses some oil. You will lose most of it while coasting down in gear/engine braking. You should get an oil catch can and see how much goes through your PCV system back into the intake.

That's not uncommon. But it's nice to run a catch can to keep that oil out of the intake manifold.

I added an oil separator/oil catch can a week or so after I bought my car. I've yet to check it. But I'm curious: What do I do with the oil in the can? pour it back in? Throw it away and add fresh oil instead? Use it with chicken bones and vodka in some type of voodoo ritual?
Just curious.
