Default Spare tire question

I picked up my car on Friday.
It has the 20" wheel option.
You cant order the spare tire with the 20" wheels.
There must be a reason for that.
I bought the spare tire and jack and installed them in the well in the trunk.
The 18" spare tire/wheel combo is a full 2" shorter that the tires on the car.
Im sure this is not an issue if used on the front.
But what about the rear??
Could this cause damage to the differential if driven far when used on the rear?

To the best of my knowledge you are correct in thinking it is not good to run it on the back, so if you get a rear flat, you get the joy changing out two tires so the spare ends up being on the front.

What are the actual tire sizes on the car and the spare (width/aspect ratio/wheel dia.)? Yes, the wheels are 2" smaller but are you sure the spare isn't a taller sidewall tire to make the rolling diameter the same?

First I would only use the tire kit in an actual emergency because it will ruin the TPMS. Second do not run a different size wheel on the rear axle with that differential because you will ruin the clutches in the rear end. Third the spare for the car will only fit the regular brakes and not the Brembos but with 20 inch wheels you did not get the Brembos.

Tire diameter is what matters, not wheel size. They are easily compared side by side.

TPMS is more than that for this car plus good luck finding one. Remember you get free roadside assistance for the term of the warranty.
