Break in period?

Mechanic at dealer told me there is no break in period. The engine pretty much is broken in before they leave plant.

With the tolerances of engines these days, the typical "break-in" is all but gone. Many engines come out of the box with synthetic oil, something that was considered a no-no not that long ago.
