I just bought a '16 GT PP race red convertible w/ manual, no pics yet. I drove all three rear ends. The 3.31 was smooth and good for a dd with traffic, the 3.73 was fun but required high rpms for a smooth shift, would be best for weekend racers. I got the 3.55 because it was a good compromise between the other two, plenty of kick but smith shifting at lower rpms. Unless I am going for a really quick start, I usually take off in second gear.

Yeah, I have made up my mind. Not into the racing scene anymore....I am going to leave the rear end alone. I want it to sound good, look good, and drive good....That's about it.

Also many that have 3.73's in the manual transmissions say those feel awfully short and would rather have less gearing.
Exactly, don't forget to multiply 1st gear times the rear ratio for total mechanical advantage. With 4.10s, you might want to start in 2nd gear...

I test drove a manual with the PP and I can honestly say that if I daily drove that car, 1st gear would rarely be used.....

And that came with 3.73s? I hear you...
Even the auto with 3.15s has enough mechanical advantage in 1st gear.

kinda dumb that PP doesn't allow you to get any gear except 3.73... It is too much gear with the way the 6 spd is geared. days of gears being the first upgrade are a thing of the past. I plan on going to the 3.31 someday when put on a blower. added big power will make the first couple gears even more worthless.

I tell you, I appreciate these forums because if I would have jumped on a 3.73 upgrade, I would be pissed by now...lol... the 3.31 is perfect for my car.

Absolutely right... even with an auto trans!

I guess one could use taller rear tires if they would fit, that would help a bit and give a bit more contact patch. Might look funny though...
