Oil Drain Plug

Oil Drain Plug
New GT owner here, quick question - does the oil drain plug have a gasket, and does it need to be replaced when changing the oil? I've had older vehicles that required you to change the gasket every oil change. The Jeep is quite a bit newer than those vehicles and it has a reusable gasket. I plan to change the oil after the break in period and I haven't read anything online that suggested a new gasket was required, but I just wanted to make sure I have everything I need. Thanks.

Edit: This was a post about oil drain valves which is actually a different topic and one that applies to all cars. So I made it its own thread in the generic tech forum: https://mustangforums.com/forum/gene...in-valves.html

I used Fumotos for years and they are a huge improvement over a drain plug. But I switched to Femcos on my new cars when I discovered them in 2013. They've been in business for over 40 years but not marketing in the US, plus their target customers are fleet owners. They don't seem to think enough regular folks would buy any valve because 99% of owners don't change their own oil and just take it to the dealer or JiffyLube.
Anyway, advantages of pretty much any drain valve:
instead of every oil change.

I'm afraid of the cheapy oil change places! I had to stop one kid tightening the drain plug with a wrench & a mallet! When I yelled at him to stop he said, "If it leaks then people complain!" Not a joke, it really happened! If you do have your oil changed take it to a "good private shop" with people with automotive experience & pay a little more for the safety! Automotive dealers often start green employees on the lube rack! I had a bad experience with an oil change at a dealer too! Yikes!
