Automotive dealers often start green employees on the lube rack! I had a bad experience with an oil change at a dealer too! Yikes!
That's as bad as the kid years ago who was doing an oil change. I looked out and saw him struggling with something toward the back of the engine. I knew that the oil filter was up front so walked out to check things. He had the oil filter wrench wrapped around my starter!

Care to guess how many Corvairs were destroyed by someone removing the cap right behind the license plate in this photo and filling it with water?

Most people don't realize this was the actual cause for the elimination of gas station attendants.

Ouch! My first car was a '64 Monza Spider. I never had that problem but I did my own maintenance. Actually, I'm surprised they could find the engine given that it was in the back of the car!

I did. It makes changing oil a breeze. If only I could find an easier way to pull the filter without getting oil all over the place.

Must be a Ford thing with V8 engines. Last V8 Ford I owned was a '94 T-Bird with the 4.6 engine. I loved the car but it was physically impossible to get the engine oil filter off that car without getting half a quart running down my arm and across the frame member that runs under the engine for the width of the car, resulting in multiple drips over a four foot area. There was no way to catch it all, very frustrating!

LOL I had a '96, and I feel your pain. You had to follow a very specific path while turning the filter this way and that, and flex the PS hose a little. I seriously considered getting one of those filter relocation kits.
