Roush vs GT500 axle back exhaust
I just got a new 5.0 convert and I have been reading info here and on vendor websites and listened to a few clips and these are the two axlebacks that I have narrowed down my choices too. My question is to anyone that has either of these or has heard either of these how do they compare and which would you recommend?
What I desire is of course a sweeter sound when getting on the gas but I really don't want the car to sound any louder inside (drone) when cruising down the highway at a steady 60 or 70 mph.
The prices are about $280 for the GT500 and $369 for the Roush. I got behind a GT500 the other day and it sounded pretty good. Just wondering if this axleback would produce that same sound?

I installed the GT 500 axle backs about a month ago. I love them. The Roush sound good also. I just thought they were a little raspy sounding for my taste. The 500's have a slightly louder idle and are noticeably louder at wot. They have a gurgle like the old flows did on my 91 vert when gearing down. I haven't experienced any drone. Now that I have had them a while I almost wish they were a little louder. I know that can be fixed by long tubes and a off road cat. They really have a different sound to them than any one I listened to on Youtube. By the way, none of the clips actually do each system justice as to what they sound like in person. I am happy with the 500's for cost and sound. Really in choosing exhaust it comes down to your personal preference. I hope this helps!

I have Borla S type axeback. Idle is so sweet, WOT they scream but on the highway in 6th gear at 75 mph you don't even know they are there! Yes it is that quiet. I know they are expensive but you get what you pay for with this system

So the GT500 mufflers are worth getting? It's just hard for me to consider purchasing a muffler that is stock on another car, even if it is for the GT500. I did notice, however, it is considerably cheaper than all the other axle backs out there.

You said you didn't want to get much louder....then GT500 mufflers are the way to go compared to Roush mufflers. Another muffler you may want to consider that matches your criteria is the Magnaflow mufflers. They are not to loud or raspy but, sound nicer then stock.
