I heard some talk at a local car show that the old 5.0 and the new Coyote are so similar, that if you change the fuel and intake they're basically the same engine.
I have heard of a few companies that are putting crate Coyotes in Fox bodies. The "rumor" is there will be a kit sometime in the future to make the swap not as difficult. Check out Stang TV. As a Fox and Coyote owner, someday I would love to put that powerplant in my Fox. It just looks pretty tight, but I also am not a mechanic. Probably for the price of the crate Coyote, tranny, and install- I'm guessing roughly 8-9000? You could build a pretty mean motor for a Fox that would be in the 500+ H.P. range. Not to mention mating a tranny to the Coyote in a Fox platform. I still think it would be sweet though!
The old 5.0 isn't even a 5.0 - it's actually 4.9L. The old 5.0 was before Ford moved to the modular setup, I don't think a single piece of either motor is interchangeable...not even the 5.0 badge
