Budget CAI
#11
I recently bought the Steeda CAI. It was a PITA to install because the instructions are so bad. The main rubber gasket that seals it to the hood doesn't stay on the airbox, so I'll have to use some weatherstripping adhesive.
The sheet metal box is very sharp on the edges and I cut my finger pretty good. At least it works.
I agree with your choice of the Bama tunes. I bought the SCT X3 from American Muscle with 3 custom tunes for 93 octane. I'm currently using the 93 Street Tune. The car is a monster. AM was great in e mailing me the tunes as well as pre-installing them on the X3. Now I can keep them secure on a thumb drive in case the X3 gets damged/lost/stolen.

not sure what they mean by "proper" air duct on the front. the Airaid intake (which i just installed) hooks up exactly where the factory one did. it uses the factory CAI (yes, its actually a cold air intake) opening. the install was amazingly simple. Including taking off the strut tower brace, the install took less than 10 minutes.
also have my SCT w/ bama tunes on the way!

You could get just the tune; you don't NEED the CAI but if you're going the route of a tune, the CAI is chump change over what you paid for the car so why even fret about it? And worrying about fuel mileage after paying about $30k + is pretty ironic, don't you think? Even IF a CAI & tune provided better fuel mileage (which it doesn't unless you get an economy tune and then watch soccer mom's blow your doors off), you're break-even point might be in about 5 years or more.
