Default 2012 GT Consumes Oil...but it's OK

If the alternative is driving a Camaro or a Challenger...I'll take my bearing noise at 40, slightly clunky front end (even after the TSB repair for the lower control arms), and the 2 quart deficit after about 3,000 miles of driving.

I definitely notice that at about 4-5K loaded RPM, the car noticeably pulls back or twitches...as if it needs something like oil...when the dipstick is a the add line (about 3 months / 3,000 miles after an oil change), which according to the dealer is 2 qts down. Once it's back up to 8 quarts...everything is fine.

I check my oil every 1K mi, and I do not follow the IOLM...especially for an engine that works as hard as this one does...it deserves frequent oil changes.

this worries me.... lol
Make sure everyone that has to put oil in the car takes it to the dealer and let them top it off and document it. You'll be happier in the long run if your motor ever fails and Ford give s you any hard time regarding warranty. Wish I would have did that...

Just checked mine...2 quarts low after about 4,000 miles. Have 27919 miles on car. Oil life said 32%. Added 2 quarts then reset oil life indicator for fun. Plan on changing oil soon. I feel like a fool for not checking sooner. Only other cars I've had where I had to think about checking were an 89 Mazda pickup and a early 90s Tempo..because they leaked. Guess ill have to check monthly from now on.

20k miles and I go threw a qt every 2-3k miles. I do drive hard. I have a JLT catch can and its "full" every 500 miles.

I checked my oil, just now, on my 2013 5.0 with 5300 miles and the level is still on the full mark. Had Ford change my oil at 200 miles. Am due to change it here real soon with Amsoil full synthetic. I drive mine pretty hard. Went down the track a couple of times this year and drove in an SCCA event. Still on full and haven't added any oil. However, I do allow the engine to warm up every time before taking off, generally idling for about 3-4 minutes. I never drive it hard until after the engine is at full operating temperature. A good thing to do with aluminum alloy engine blocks and heads.

Common practice for me.
