How to get into the 11's with a 5.0 auto? Validate my equation.
#11
Thought it would be more like
(4.10s + '07) = (3.73s + '12)
In first gear, a 4.10 in the old auto equals the stock 3.15 in the new auto which also equals a 3.55 in the new 6 speed manual. 2nd gear is when it starts to loose some ground.
Optional 6-speed automatic
Gear ratios
1st 4.17
2nd 2.34
3rd 1.52
4th 1.14
5th 0.87
6th 0.69
Final drive 3.15:1
Optional 5-speed automatic (05-10)
Gear ratios
1st 3.22
2nd 2.29
3rd 1.54
4th 1.00
5th 0.71
Final drive 3.31:1

edit: actually just read bmr4life's post, which basically agrees with what i just said.

are you smoking crack or just like argueing with me? I had 4.10s in my 2007 GT and I have 4.10s in my 2012GT. stop listneing to the bull**** other people are spewing out who haven't had it in their cars. My RPMs on the hwy are actually lower in my 2012 than they are in my 2007 because of the 6 spd tranny. listen to someone with actual experience. If anything it would be like 3.73s in my 2007 is equal to 4.10s in my 2012. driveability feels about the same.

28" tire. 2500rpm 4.10 final gears
5 speed auto = 71.54mph
6 speed auto = 73.61mph

Reverse all those equations.

I've got some buddies with some quick cars that I'd like keep up with. A 12.0 SRT-4 and a 12.XX Grand National
I'm hoping not much is needed besides some good fall air and following mods.
BAMA RACE Tune + O/R H pipe + 17" Drag Radials.
Am I crazy for thinking this? I hope not.
Stock my car went 13.284@107mph with a 2.0" 60' on my 285/30/20 NT555's. DA corrected changed a lot to 12.81@111mph.
I'm hoping the DRs can take me from 2.0 to 1.7 and shave .3-.5 seconds off the big end.
I'm also hoping the tune and pipe can shave another .5. I think this is plausible since the tune will raise the RPM limit and make my trans shift with some purpose.
So my hopeful math is saying an 11.8-11.99 is possible.

Their best run was 11.76.
Stock run was 13.0
HOw's this for validation?

What I meant was I'm concerned I won't get 11's if I don't do the 4.10 gear like AM did. I'd never put a 4.10 my car as long as its my DD. I really don't plan on going away from my stock 3.15. Beyond what I've done, I'm saving up for FI.

NA performance is synonymous with gearing. If you do not want to swap gears, then getting into the 11's with a stock GT will be difficult. Although, I wouldn't even worry about mods right now if you plan on going FI in the future. Just my 2 cents...
