I drove 600hp+ cars without traction control and I didn't loose the rear due to that fact.
Why?? Maybe because I only relied on what I was doing with what I got instead of putting confidence on a BS feature and acting like I was in my living room.

I say learn to drive the damn car first.

ah the ever subtle pascal. TC will not save your **** in any mode if you are harsh with throttle or brake inputs, the cars system can't keep up with quick inputs. i can also tell you from experience that you don't want it on if you are autox or racing, it will kill your brake pads.

Yup, TC could've totaled my 370z when I was making a hard turn with some speed. Since then I always turn it off unless it's raining because I think that's what it's really for, loosing control while not doing anything stupid.
It will not be helpful while driving the car like you're wife is gonna have a baby in your kitchen or at the track.

This is my first car with these features.... I've never thought about using them since I've gotten fishy in my 85 RS, 93 Firebird and especially in my 93 5.0 (miss that fox body). I quickly learned the value of tread on a tire in the firebird as I did a 720 all of a sudden when I was driving straight on a freshly rained road.

Best thing you can do, GhastlyTT, is to hit a large parking lot like the other poster said.... But hit it after a fresh rain, so it's nice and slick. Play with some donuts and fishtails to learn how to counter-steer and throttle through/off. Or sign up for a good race course at your local strip. They are a blast!

I'm doing my first autocross in my car this weekend and wondering if when I have AdvanceTrac disabled which disables ESC and TCS, is ABS still on the job?

Yes, you could only disable ABS by pulling the fuse.
