Default Speed limiter?

I'm searching multiple forums and getting a different answer with every thread. With a manual transmission and 3.73s it looks like people are shifting to 6th and not accelerating. Is it because it's right at the speed limiter or is it running out of power? I saw one video of a stock GT screaming through 5th, and I can't imagine that it would really not accelerate in 6th... Anyone?

aren't most new cars electronically limited to 155mph?

stock speed limiter is set to 155. here is a vid of a guy accelerating in 6th after disabling the limiter. it seemed like he shifted at around 125 into 6th though.

I think the fastest ive had mine was around 120.. im not much of a speeder i guess, couldn't imagine holding it past 160. in my 07 i got it to 140 and thought that was fast enough... long/straight/open/flat road in the middle of the day when i can see really well i might try a 150 run.. but i dunno, i probably never will.

fyi, that video is cai+tune only mods.

Looking at the shift points that seems like 3.31 gears. Wouldn't that put the driver in 5th until 160? Assuming stock tires that puts 160mph at 6532 rpms in 5th.

That is just plain ridiculous! Awesome, but ridiculous. LOL. That's some serious power.

To update this thread, with the tune the car doesn't have a limiter anymore around 150ish.

Limit? What limit? LMAO. No need for that. What was Ford thinking? I know "Safety", but if one can't handle 150+ mph then they should buy the 3.7L.

Don't do top speed runs, your motor will thank you. Holding WOT for that long is causing a ton of heat. I wonder how many of the people with #8 cylinder failure were trying to see how fast their car will go.

this is for you Moosestang: 13.5K for about a minute:

Hit about 114*C at the end. Still running strong but, new rubber needed....

13.5K for a minute and wide open throttle for a minute are two completely different things. The load on your pistons is significantly less doing a burnout vs. top speed runs.

Do you really want to compare a much smaller motorcycle engine with a 5.0L v8? really?
