Default BOSS intake manifold

Anyone out here have one? Hard to believe the gains the AM has with the tune, and CAI alone... any thoughts from anyone on here?

I guess the thing to remember with the boss intake is the change in the power curve. Most of that increase takes place after 6000 rpms(depending on who you ask) or so. You really have to have that thing reved up continually to maintain that power band. This new 5.0 reaches high speeds so fast how long would you stay in that power range on a regular basis? If you are dragging the car then sure but I think for everyday use there is money better spent elsewhere. Just my two cents worth.

+1.....Not that I'm super knowledgeable on the subject, but everywhere I've looked for info I got the same answer.

Unless you replace the head assemblies with the boss heads you will not gain a noticeable amount, and certainly not very useable. Now this manifold with a turbo set up or a procharger might make it worth your while. Also taking benefit of the extra rpm range takes a toll on the valvetrain and oiling system since it was not designed for it. If it didn't require a tune it would be a great engine dress up piece.

All the above is more or less what I was thinking... Just was curious if anyone on here has actually had the results they boast from a dyno curve and top dyno standpoint.

If your search boss intake tests there is a really good article by 5.0 magazine on an install on a 2011 and before and after dyno results. They walk it through pretty throughly. You can see through their dyno where the power in this intake is.

Basically I bought it for best 1/4 mile time. Many people report .2 lower ET, i got it for $350 so it's a pretty good mod price for ET reduction for me.

Some people with manual transmissions actually got higher ETs, likely from reduced power down low and not being able to shift perfectly everytime at 7600rpm like the automatics can. Also pairing it with my 4.10 gears means I don't really spend any time in the low RPM range.

For me it's an awesome mod as I want the best 1/4 mile timeslip I can get. For many it is kind of pointless and possibly worse for you, unless you are a good driver who races(either street or strip) a lot.
