You got me interested in data logging, so I went and found what I could.
This link seems pretty helpful: http://www.mustangevolution.com/must...an-sct-x-cal3/
the latest livelink is 6.5 which can be found here: http://sctflash.com/LiveLink.php

OK, I know a lot of folks are monitoring this thread, so let me end the suspense by saying something none of you want to hear. I cannot comment further on-line regarding this issue. I can say that I have reason to have faith this will work out, but further comment could complicate that effort.
One way or another, my 5.0 will be re-born, and it is unlikely I will stick to an OEM rebuild, meaning it is likely to go back together with considerable power upgrades. I appreciate all the kind words.
More to follow------

Ahhh..wow, ANOTHER thread that ends in a similar fashion. Either A an attorney got involved or B, the dealer/Ford said, if you want this taken care of stop posting. A couple of other threads have ended this way on other topics. Not this topic about Cyl #8 but other items.
Interesting...

Yep, interesting... I agree with your suspicions Def00.
on the data logging, I tried data logging once but couldn't figure out how to get the proper A/F ratio to report... I might do some more digging.. I suspect mines running rich but not too rich. but I guess you never know without a data log. If anyone knows or finds the proper way to see your A/F ratio i'd appreciate it if you post it here.

I'm gonna crank up my dashhawk today and do some logs as I'm hoonin' around. Yer right, a WB will be required for actual A/F (my last car had one) but, I expect I'll be able to see commanded AFR, which'll say something.
