Advance trac is fords stability program, attempts to keep you from fishtailing and general sliding. No you should not have to drive like this, take it to the dealer and get it fixed.

TCS alone keeps wheel spin to a minimum by cutting power and applying the brakes. Advance track monitors steering input, wheels speed, ect.. and applies braking to help keep the car straight. It works very well as a system IMO. You should be able to dive pretty hard with it on, but I have noticed that I get some bogging when it kicks in as I chirp through gears and start to get a little sideways.
TCS off=roast the tires in a straight line.
TCS off ans AC off=write you name all over the street...
If the car is normal with those systems off, then you may possibly have an issue with a sensor somewhere.. unless the car is actually just doing what its suppose to be doing to keep you from hitting a wall, or a cow : )
