Default Fuel efficiency

With all the talk going on lately about eco shifting and mpg's, I thought it would be pertinent to ask everyone a simple question.

Since this musing mortor has been out for sometime now, how has your fuel economy been so far?

Now that question doesn't really go into much detail, so I would ask you to explain in your responses what type of driving you do is regular basis.

Also, for those of you whove had the cars for a bit longer than folks like myself (3-26-12), has you discovered any tips or tricks to improve your fuel economy?

Thanks in advance!

Also, on a regular basis, not is. Remind me not to post from an iPad. Ever again!

1100 miles on mine, the on dash gauge says 17.2. I drive it like i stole it pretty much all the time. Bought this car to have fun in. I could care less about fuel economy, i wouldnt have got a big honkin v8 if i did. Ive got 3.31's by the way.

in normal highway driving when i was stock i got 26mpg. in town was like 18. with my mods i get 22 hwy and 17 in town.

if you want info on maxmizing your mpgs there is a lot of info out there that works on all vehicles. basically be easy on the throttle, coast instead of braking when possible. like if you know a light always changes before you can reach it let off the gas half way down the block and coast in, no need to get up to the speed limit even.

I'm not sure what the ideal speed is in these cars for mpgs, in most its around 55mph so drive at 55 on the highway and interstate. thats what my bro-in-law does.. drives me crazy going that slow in a 65mph zone but I did get the best mpg ever, i think i hit 31mpg for that 1 hour trip (but it was mostly down hill driving).

My state usually has the cheapest gas in the country, sometimes WY beats us. We have a bunch of oil refineries and produce oil. so it's never bothered me to get poor gas mileage. even then, getting 25mpg in a muscle car is pretty awesome I think.

With the cruise locked on 70 mph, flat ground and low wind. I can get 28-29 mpg. My mpg guage is locked on 22mpg with 80% hwy and 20% stop and go. I drive it pretty hard 50% of the time.

ive got 12k on mine i average 18 in stop and go driving. the only thing that sucks is the small gas tank these cars have. they really should add about 4 gallon capacity. would be nice to at least get 300 miles to a tank. but i do tend to drive it like i stole it from time to time.

I don't monitor my mpg's at all. I honestly just don't care. I knew gas prices were on their way up and if there was ever a point in my life where I'm going to enjoy an inefficient v8, now is the time, before it gets out of hand and cars start shifting to smaller / more efficient engines and turbo setups.

I cruise on the freeway, I romp on it when I feel like it, and I suck down the gas pretty quickly. I think I get around 250-280 miles per tank which probably equates to ****ty mpg, I just don't care to dive into it. wasn't even on my radar when I bought the car.

Right now my car says 20.5 is my average, but it's changing all the time since sometimes I do tons of highway and sometimes I have long periods of city driving on it.

When I'm driving highway I end up between 25-28 usually. I try to drive right at the speed limit, I wish I had the patience to be a true eco driver and sit at 55 on highways but I don't, nor do I like people ripping past me for my whole trip. IMO my sweet spot is 65mph, it's 250rpm lower than 70mph and I don't really miss those 5mph.

City though I get maybe 15-17 depending. I drive it for fun and it's not worth it to me to sacrifice that for mileage .

A few mods that would help mileage would be putting some kind of undercarriage cover from the engine back to keep drag down under there, but also if you have thought about redoing your suspension and lowering/flattening your car, that will also give you increases in mileage.
