Interesting comments on first gear on the 3.73. I use first all the time no problem. I will say this however. Before I put the boss intake on the car first gear was a jerky mess..Could hardly get it to behave. After the intake swap first became much much smoother..just my 2 cents

No Disrespect to me 3.31 brothers, but if you are looking at a 5.0, gas mileage should not be a concern. Ge the 3.73 and have a great time. 3.55 would be a great compromise. I always felt that if you want great performance, you have to give up efficiency. I love being able to hang with my friends 2001 dinan stage 3 m5 !!!!!

Thanks for all the input. I am going to go with the 3.31. My reasoning.
I had a 2011 V6 auto with 2.73. I had dealer install ford racing 3.73. I did SCT tuner CAI, BBK long tube headers, X pipe, axle back magnaflow. the difference was nothing short of amazing. I did see my hwy go from 32 to 24.5.
I live in midwest and my car was a DD. I had blizzack tires on during winter. Traction was fantastic with them though expensive.
Cars performance was great and very fast to me. I do not track. Only street driving and I do not race in street. Thats a no no. Yes I played when safe but still stayed in reason. Never got over 95 on an open hwy even.
Gas prices , well , who knows were they could go in the future but for sure can only go up.
With 420 hp at hand, 390tq, I think 3.31's will do just fine. Plus with GT track pack you get 19 wheels. Blizzack tires, $75 bucks more then 18 inch.
Brembo brakes,,, yes good but again i will most likely NEVER get the true use and stock brakes stop me...
So , cost of gas, tires, and an additional $2500 well, I will just use that money to take trips in my 2013 Mustang.
Again thanks for all the input. But who knows, I may get the bug to do tuner,CAI, ford racing gears,,,,again...LOL

well,, I did not go buy the one with 3.31's. I kept thinking about all the input and thought about how much fun my 2011 v6 was after going from 2.73's or whatever it was to ford racing 3.73's.
So I thought long and hard over the last few weeks and decided that if I was going to invest this much money into a new car I wanted it my way.
So I just ordered today a manual with what I wanted inside and out and also with 3.73's.
thanks for helping me make the correct choice.
now it is a long 8 to 10 weeks....
