It still amazes me how much oil the JLT is picking up. I put it on with about 1500mi. and have emptied it twice from being full half way. about 2900mi now.

I plan on buying separator really soon. Is passenger and drivers side a need for N/A motors?

Is this something wrong with the engines or is this oil problem normal on all motors?

I would say normal. I installed a intake manifold on my 07 and had it on for <400 miles and it was slap full of oil once I removed.

I agree, I was able to adjust mine, no sweat. Just put it on yesterday.

From what I can tell, it's with all motors. I installed a catch can on my last three cars, an Acura Integra, Pont. TransAm, my '08 GT and so now on my '11 5.0 GT. All fill that lillte catch can up suprisingly quick. Apparently the PCV system gets a lot of oil vapor in the lines. Without the separator, it just gets sucked right into the intake manifold coats it with oil and some makes it to the pistons and gets burned-not good for performance and can potentially cause detonation or at least reduced performance due to that oil getting into the mixture.
Now the 5.0 can have one installed on both sides of the engine, but from what's been posted it seems the passenger side fills up much more, so I installed one on that side first, but will do both eventually.

I run one on both sides but it looks as if I could possible ditch the driver side one as it is really picking up nothing.

I have read mixed information about the Oil Separator. Is this a no kidding necessity or marketing gimmick? Does this actually decrease longevity? I was curious myself of picking one up and now i am reading we have to get 2, lol in due time i guess.

Depends on the person I guess.......but a necessity? Nope. I'm just that kinda person, I don't want the 2-3 ounces of oil shooting back into my engine every 1500-2000 miles but cars have been running forever without oil separators.

So really it is the added comfort state of mind. Sounds good. I might have to pick one up and see for myself. Ideally though it sounds as if it would be seriously useful. Pretty easy to install? Thanks
