Default Possibly switching from regular headlamps to oem hid's

Plannong on switching from the stock headlamps to the oem hid kit that come on the cars, just wondering if anything else is needed besides the headlamp assemblies? If anyone has done this it'd be a big help thanks!

Have you checked prices on the factory HIDs? I think they are really high, like $900 per light. American Muscle has a version that looks a lot like the factory HID for I think around $300 for the pair.

Yea I've seen the prices, I might be getting a set for super cheap with cracked lenses so I'm just going to fix them. I wasnt sure if the wiring was different or not tho.

Yes......im running hid bulbs in normal headlamps so I would assume to run the hid bulbs safely you would need ballasts and fused relay harness like this one....http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W

I was checking on alldata and if anyone has the connectors that come on the oem wiring harness, it's a four pin connector I have the connector number but I left it at work. If anyone works at work and could pm me how I could go about getting the connect id appreciate it

I would do a retro-fit if I were you. The Factory HIDs are nice, but I believe they use Valeo projectors and fluted lenses which really dumb-down the output of the projectors. A quality retro-fit with projectors like the FXR 3.0 kit from theretrofitsource.com with clear lenses would be better performing than the factory units and cost much less. Of course, you will need to perform the project yourself or pay a professional to do it. Check out hidplanet.com forums for hints, guides and ideas.

And whatever you do, don't fit HID bulbs in the factory Halogen housing. It emits lots of glare and looks ricer as hell, especially with the bluer xenon colors (6000k+).

I have a left light with a small crack you can barely see I will sell your for $300. Comes with bulbs, igniter, ballast, everything you would get for $1180 from the dealer.
