My thoughts resemble everyone that posted. I was never impressed with mustangs until this year. I was dead set on a Camaro or vette back in April and only looked at the mustang at my brother's urging. The Camaro is hideous on the inside and I lost interest in the vettes. I could never give up my truck like the one guy who posted earlier did. Sometimes I like captain's chairs and not rowing through gears more. Not to mention the utility.

My want list was SS, RT and then GT, in that order. I test drove an SS and scared the S**t out of the sales lady but it was so dissapointing. Looked at the RTs and rented one but when we got to AVIS it wasn't available, the GT was. That along with the ability to mod them closed the deal. The Ford salesman handed me the keys and I kept it two hours returned to the dealer and ordered one. Love that car!

I beg to differ...
The FI pushrod 302 found in the fox body in 86 was revolutionary in the sense that it put Muscle performance back in the scene after the 73 debacle.
Tons of aftermarket support to make it go fast as well.
It also started the stroker kit trend for the pushrod mills, which is the best thing that happened in engine build up since the 60s.

I'll give you the FI 302. The main one I was pointing at was the first of the Modular engines. SOHC engines had been around for a while prior to 1996 (in our Mustang case). No one can say that the non-PI 4.6 wasn't a turd. The PI 4.6 wasn't much better. Don't get me wrong, I had a 2004 GT that I put a Procharger on and loved it. I just think it was ridiculous to spend $6k to keep up with a LSx that the owner put less than a grand in with a cam and some heads. Now, I will give "revolutionary" to the 03-04 Cobra 4.6. They were beasts. And I'll definitely throw up a WOOT!!! to the Coyote engine. I'm glad that Ford can now compete with the competition.
