'13 Camaro 1LE dusted by 4.46 seconds the BOSS Laguna Seca at VIR
Guys I readed that the '13 Camaro SS w/. the 1LE handling package, dusted the BOSS Laguna at VIR, by 2:58:34 seconds. That Camaro cost about $6K less, is only the SS with some handling package (that cost about 3K).
What can we do to the 5.0 Mustang to be competitive in the track against the 1LE?

Who drove? Pro or amatur? Im not an expert but sime things are obvious. Starting with better brakes (Slotted/Drilles 14" front 6- piston Baer or Wilwood and 14" rear 4 or 6 piston, 2 piece rotors) which requires c-clip elimination on the rear axle, and ducted brake cooling. Randy Probst has done some very good comparisons. The Camero brakes front and rear are better and after the first lap hold braking power longer. The brakes on the boss and shelby fade pretty quick. Better suspension components, but with a live axle street driving will be rigid. Watts link helps greatly. The Camero IRS and better breaks will help the average driver run consistent and better times on a road course because you feel better about corners. An experienced racer will get the most out of both cars and probably similar times but the vertical motion in the Stang is rough. Adjustable coil overs. The Boss suspension parts are stiff but any aftermarket will most likely add substantial rigidity. Replace any rubber with poly,,

Nitto NT05 275 on all 4 corners would help too. I like mine a lot now that I've gotten used to them. I went with a Steeda 18" Pentar wheel since they clear 14" brakes and they're light weight ( at least for the price).

I'd like to see a professional driver drive the same cars back to back on the same day. I'm not sure this comparison is entirely accurate.
either way, impressive run for what appears to be subtle upgrades for the Camaro SS on that package. pretty good performance/price/value.
something that should be noted.. we are not professional race car drivers. it takes a ton of skill and a ton of confidence to rip a 4100lb beast around corners. I did not quite have that much faith in the Camaro when I owned one.

Ummm.. hmm.. the time they posted is only .14 seconds behind the corvette z06... something doesn't sound right.. a 3900lbs car vs a 3200lbs car, 505hp vs 426 hp... and 1 tenth of a difference? Sounds like pure BS to me. I don't believe their suspension and brakes have improved enough to compete with their 75k sports car that is 700lbs lighter and with 80 more hp.
also, boss isn't available in 2013 anymore, so you either have to compare the GT the camaro or the GT500 in price to performance, since you'll only be able to find them used from now on, and i dont compare used car prices to new car prices.
maybe GM mis-spoke and the ZL1 was tested that fast? that i might be able to see.
also check it out, 23. Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z51 3:01.20 '08 442 / 1459 you mean to say the track packaged vette is 3 seconds slower than the track package camaro?
edit: read this, "five seconds behind it’s big brother, the 580-horse Camaro ZL1" so the ZL1, went 2:53? 8th place? a camaro that weighs 4k lbs is up with the ZR1 and other super cars? they also dont post these times on the official lists, makes me wonder why not? are these not real tests(I see it starts with him going 135mph at 0:0:0, is that not how they test there?) or not factory stock cars? their regular SS went 3:09:50, im pretty sure it's tough to squeeze 12 more seconds out of a car on that track with just suspension and tires (especially the 20s its supposed to have, makes the car slower)
For the type of racing I do I'm confident I'll blow away any new camaro in my car's price range. (Drag Racing, bolt-on only)

Where did you hear this from? I was literally talking to a guy and practically drooling all over his race red 2013 boss mustang....
