3.73 to 4.10 w/6sp manual
#11
I have 3.73s and kind of wish I had 3.55s - make 1st gear a little more usable and easier to put the power down, and make cruising rpm a tiny bit lower. seems to be the best compromise gear.
I can't imagine 4.10's on a manual trans. that'd be nuts. good call on sticking with what ya have imo.

I would offer that my 11 w/ a 6M trans has 4.10s and puts out approx. 585 to the wheels, lets us just say that 1st gear is pointless.... Fun, but pointless. I find to drive it "normal" I take off in 2nd. On the highway, I have to admit I LOVE it, just pulls in 6th gear, I have put it up to 174mph and it was still going so, you won't top it out anytime soon.

might want to pass on the DRs if you're looking for a track tire for MT....
I found the sweet spot at 4500 rpm launch on 3.73s and the 28" tire but, I had been clutch-dropping 5k and 6k looking for that sweet spot no problem. DRs would never take that and they'd be breaking stuff pretty quick.
Best e/t turned in 11.91 at 115.3 on a fully loaded car on the Procal tune. Roush upper and UMI cheapo lowers out back. 1.6 sixty on stock rate Brembo springs, shocks and bars.

3.73s are ideal in my own opinion for a bolt on car that is. I use my car mainly as a daily driver and 3.73s allow me to roll from 2nd and shift to 4th instead of 1st to 4th which the cars are prone to do sometimes. I am not sure how a car with 3.31s feels when starting in 2nd gear but I am sure the 3.73s are smoother when doing so. Either way if you are forced to shift to 5th you will loose some precious time, its better to just hit your top in 4th and let it sit there at quarter mile runs.

dang that thread just confused me even more,
i was really minded going with the 4.10 since my car is purely a week end fun car and track racing, of course shifting into 5th before the line **** me off, but I was confident going from 3.55 to 4.10 was a key for more fun and tearing pavement since with my 285 rubber in the back im not really tearing much pavement in 1st/2nd gear, since im not going to supercharge the car next summer due to warranty and well I dont really have 8-9k to throw, i was thinking 4.10 + boss intake, couple suspensions mods, 28'' slick, it would be a great fun upgrade before going F/I,
i dont want to change gear from 3.55 to 3.73, kind of waste of money, yet no one seem to like the idea of having a 4.10 on a 6 speed which actually sound more logic then having it on a 5speed?
hmm decision...decision!

I really love having the 4.10s w/ my 6M.... Keep in mind my car is blown and puts out 580 to the wheels...
It makes it a handful to drive, if it were my daily driver, maybe not, but to be honest it is just so damn much fun! Won't switch em'!

I currently have a 2013 6 spd with 3.73. I was thinking of going to 3.55 or even 3.31 for mileage, use of 1st gear and street use.
2 questions...anyone got 3.31 and 3.55 and how do you like it? MPG on highway? Secondly, other than swapping the gears, do you have to do anything for the speedo? In the 60's and 70's, you had to replace the speedo gear in the tranny. I'm thinking about having a complete unit so I can swap between the 2. Thoughts???

A dealer can make the change in the computer for you provided you pick a gear that was a factory option. So you could go with 3.55's or 3.31's in your case.
