Default Just got my 2012 GT auto

a question is forming
what rpm do you have with a steady 70 MPH?
I am almost at 2000 . Does this seem normal?
don't know about mileage yet
thanks

You have an automatic?

My '13 GT auto with the standard 3.15 gear turns right at 2000 rpm at 70. Seems kind of high since my '08 with manual and 3.31 gear turned about 1700 at 70. The speedos are accurate in both cars (GPS).

You don't have a 2012 nor do you have an auto. So your post is pointless.

Sounds about right from what I remember with the stock 3.15 gear. I am around 2k at 65mph now that my auto has a 3.55 gear and shorter tire than stock. What size tire does the car have?

Whats the point of your post o/p? Are you looking to change to a more agressive gear?

the point of the post was---
I just got the car and was surprised to see 2k rpm at 70 mph
it seems to me that if you have a 6 speed trans (auto )
and a strong motor then with the 6th speed
you would try for about 1600 rpm and
save a little gas

Only way to save gas in a GT, auto or manual is not to drive it. I just went from getting 40mpg in my TDi to getting 16-19 in my manual GT with 3.73's. You seriously need to decouple fuel economy from your thought process and focus on the fun factor. If I drive 65-70 on the highway in the slow lane where everyone is passing me, I can get 26mpg. But where is the fun in that?

Mustang and fuel economy do not belong in the same sentence no offence but if you are worried about gas ditch the stang and get a prius.
