Just got my 2012 GT auto

Decent gas mileage and performance is obtainable. I have a 2014 GT with 3:15 gears. I was surprised to see that tall of a gear on my window sticker but it seems those gears work very well with the 6-sp Auto. I'm going to run it at the local track next month when I get a few more miles on it. But right now, I'm getting 20 mpg in mixed city/highway driving. I personally think 373's and 410's would be insane without some big slicks. You would spend much of your time spinning your tires and the 5.0 is capable of doing that with 3:15 gears!

Just pulled in the driveway in my non stock 11 GT with 25 mpg.
To the whiners complaining that mileage shouldn't count, I say, "Grow up and remove your head from between your cheeks."
It boils down to TOTAL cost of operation.
Maintaining the car.
Insuring the car.
Modifying the car.
And last but not least,
Putting gas in the thing.

youll love you car!
I think your really gonna love your car. I used to have a car that was just as fast as my current Mustang and it got 7 mpg. It was no fun. Big Block Fox Body Mustang.
With My VMP 91 performance automatic octane tune, Im currently getting 31 mpg Hwy at 60 mph, 24 city. Get a Powder Balance for your wheels and tires, and a really good wheel alignment not just within spec. I used to do front end if the tech takes the time with cameras and go back and forth you can get the alignment perfect, unless something is broken. I have the factory junk perrelis and expect to gain some more mileage with a lighter tire/rim combination. I think with the VMP mileage tune, and the right tires maybe an aluminum driveshaft as well, the car could hit 35 mpg hwy. That is UNREAL for a car pushing 400 Horsepower, that can run a quarter mile in the 12 second range.
