5.0 GT Gas Mileage
#2
That is some nice MPG.. although gotta ask how the hell do you manage to keep your '13 under 100km/hr lol
I think I have the heavy foot syndrome lol
my bests were 9.5l/100km (24.7 MPG) doing 115km/hr (cruise control) and making a fair amount of pit stops since i wouldnt let my friend smoke in my car. This was when I had the Bama 91 Performance tune in (before xpipe and cat deletes aswell)..
now with running the Bama 93 Race tune with the xpipe and cat deletes havent taken it on a huge trip like I did before but on a trip half the size and doin 130km/hr I still averaged 11.5l/100km (20.5MPG)
Even tho most dont buy a mustang for its MPG its extremely hard not to talk about what great MPG you get with a car pushing 400+hp

thanks
To be perfectly honest, ive been there and done the whole drag car thing. I love being able to pass anyone with ease, well except supercharged 5.0s and some ferraris. I love the v6 I think its awesome, not wanting to tick anyone off but I have never seen a 6 cylinder stang other then a shelby hold its value for any length of time. Reason why I chose an automatic v8.
The 5.0 Gt Auto has some flaws.
1.throttle response = lol.. oh oh wait for it now it kicks in.
2.take off = squat then go. should be just go.
3.quiet = should make all men giggle
Number 1 fix= air intake,throttlebody,exhaust,tune. (Maybe coils packs ?)
Number 2 fix= control arms,drag radials,3.31 gears,carbon fiber driveshaft
18lb tsw rims.
Number 3 fix=complete fix 1 and 2.
All of these with the right tunes ie one for gas mileage one for performance, should reach these goals.
Number 1 fix happens this month
Number 2 fix in the spring

I am lucky to break 19 mpg, but my car came with 3.73 gears. On my trip from VA to Florida, I managed about 22.8 mpg I believe. If I went down to 65 mph, I could probably get 24 mpg or so. My GTO did much better on the highway.

rpm
at 97km hr im sitting at 1500rpm. the 3.31 ratio should put me up a little higher, i believe the car will actually get better mileage at that ratio, having slightly more torque from the ratio and from being in a slightly higher rpm. I don't know what that rpm will be exactly. Im guessing should only be 1600rpm in 6th due to the overdrive. I have the 3.15s and 19inch 245/45/19 perreli all season tires.

Don't mess with the coils or throttle body. Ford has made those pretty rock solid and unless you plan on tricking out the motor they should be left alone. If you do trick out the motor, only upgrade the throttle body with a FRPP one.
#7
throttlebody
Ill be installing the accufab 84.5mm unit which is the same as the frrp throttlebody but much cheaper, just doesnt have the ford logo, nor do I have to rewire the throttlebody connector like the ford racing 84.5mm unit as per its instructions, makes going back to stock harder. Im going for the horsepower numbers off of the american muscle bama tune and the jlt intake is similar to the air raid that they used on their 2013 test car. I will also have gt 500 catback exhaust and the throttlebody over and above the american muscle build. Which should reach my goal of 400 rwhp.
#9
exhaust
Only if I had a shop willing to install the longtube headers, i would have them. The jl intake and throttlebody I already have, just waiting on my tune.
A 3000 stall circle d converter seems like it would wake the car up. But might be noisy for a daily driver. I may actually drive someplace and have the headers installed if i can find a reputable shop.

Huh I get between 12.6 and 14 if lucky with all the traffic in Seattle I spend to much time in second gear.
On the note of squat get some nice aftermarket upper and lower control arms that will fix that problem. Stock ones leave a lot to be desired.
