13 mustang stuck in 5th gear
Hi guys
My name is Jose but everyone knows me by Robles
I have a 13 gt with a 6 spd and I'm having transmission issues
As I got of the freeway yesterday I was in 5th gear I pushed the
Clutch in and tried going into neutral and it would not come out ?
It feals like it is in neutral but when I try going into other gears it won't go in
But when I release clutch with car on it moves ..also if someone pushes the car back it moves Like if it was in neutral ?
Can it be a shifter problem ?
Anyone Else have this problem?

Sounds to me like a broken or loose part in shifter rails / detents / shift fork train. Hard to say without examining first hand.
My 1974 Toyota Celica GT did that back in about '76. I pulled the console and dug in a ways from shifter end with no success and eventually had to have it towed to Toyota dealer, was something broken in shift rail linkage as I recall ..... I had likely been a bit harsh with some shifts, treating it like a Hurst in my prior Dart or GTO. Guess I busted something.

Hey Robles, what about factory warranty with it being a '13? There's a Ford rep on this forum that could answer some questions.

Thanks for the info guys yea it's at the Galpin Ford now I'm waiting for news on it tomorrow to see if it's something that can be warranty ...
I'm just hoping it is just last month gears in rear end broke and they declined the repair
And I had to pay for the repair about 1300

The best help is call road side assistance, tow it to dealer and fix it. That's what warranties are for.

Honestly I hate ford now when it comes to warranties
Before my GT
I had a SRT10 and warranty would never even ask questions
They would fix it and that was it
My car has been to the dealer at least 6 times in the past 6 months
And every time sorry fords engineer declined the repair due to abuse
I think it's B.S I bought a mustang not a focus !

It's been my experience that it's not the manufacturer so much as it is the differences in shop service writers that mean some get easy warranty coverage, others "not" so easy.
However, Ford, like others, provides a detailed book describing how their product is designed to be used. What does it say and how does that relate to how you use it? I find it odd that in short time you've busted the rear and now the trans? There's guys here who visit the drag strip or road course often and still don't go through parts like that.
Speaking just for myself, I know that when I broke my Toyota's 5 speed shift mechanism, I had been "hammering on it" in a manner which it wasn't intended for .... so I had no squawk room.

Yeah you need to get a hold of the ford rep on here hopefully she sees this. Cause I don't think they should of declined repairs.
