As an engineer people put way to much belief in the thought that some company engineer put all this time and effort to engineer something. Having worked in a fabrication yard for 3 years now, I have an eye for quality assurance. I have noticed many of the small after market companies make products that really are just "fabricated" and not really engineered. It has made me debate getting into the industry but I just need the capital lol!

That being sad, your oil catch can looks like it works. I am sure there are products that may very well work better but looks to me like you got something that works and are happy with it, so I give you props!

Great job! I'm one of those people that just buys stuff instead making stuff. There are too many of us. Keep up the good work.

if anyone is interested this is what i used
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-1-4...03AV/100027474
then i got the 3/8" kit
http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-5-P...hose+connector
and then a 5/8" inner diameter hose from autozone and push it onto the hose attachment all the way down over the nut section then hose clamp it..at first I didnt hose clamp mine as i thought it made a strong enough seal but I had my idle jump around from 500-900 and after I clamped it idle is perfect now

Nice work! I enjoy seeing people do things like this.

I have a UPR oil separator on my passenger side, but haven't felt like $110 is justified for the driver's side. I think I will give that set-up a try. Plus, the driver's side should have less oil vapor anyways so this will be perfect. Thanks!

I hope that polycarbonate bowl is resistant to motor oil and the likes.

Just saying...

This looks really cool runner. I may try this for mine. Paint it up some to make it blend in. I'm going to college to be an engineer and this looks like some fun. how did u know where to start? How did u know the air compressor filter would work? Will this work alrightt on my 4.6L?

i just looked on youtube to see what others might have used. Someone with a GT500 was running the same thing so I just went with that. I was going to paint it. but I like it clear so I can see how much oil so i know when to empty it instead of checking it all the time

HAHA. A know-it-all would not need to ask about the material properties of PC, which, BTW, performs GOOD to FAIR when exposed to oils/greases. Throw in the heat from being under the hood, and you have a nicely annealed PC oil trap that will be less prone to cracking/crazing because of a reduction in molded in stresses.

For a clear plastic oil-catch can, you made the right choice!
