Barton shifter noise?

Barton shifter noise?
I have read quite a lot of posts saying that installing a short shifter will increase the NVH inside the car. Is the noise coming from the shifting or from buzzing while driving the car?
If the noise is happening while moving from one gear to another gear, I can live with that. The buzzing noise, I can not live with that.

The short answer to your question is, YES, installing a short-shifter will increase NVH.
The 'clunk' noise that the car makes going from gear to gear will be the same. The NVH increase is more of a whining, not a buzzing, that is heard within the car. It sounds like a supercharger spooling up. It is not nearly as loud as you would expect but it is noticeable when you listen for it. This is because the OEM shifter uses a rubber boot and softer bushing materials to eliminate the drivetrain noise. This becomes pronounced with the short shifters that use stiffer materials that transfer drivetrain noise. IMO, it is a small sacrifice to get rid of the awful, sloppy shifter that these cars come with from the factory.
