How's the installation? is it a simple bolt in thing? do you need to heat them up with a torch to get them apart?

Axle backs should be a pretty straight forward bolt on/off without any flames or nuclear devices. The stock mufflers take some finess to remove, but no big deal.

I too have the GT500 exhaust on my '14. To my ear, it makes the 5.0 sound like a Stang is supposed to sound & are the cans that should've come stock on the car. At idle, they are slightly louder & deeper than stock. When you get on the gas pedal, they rumble significantly more than OEM but because it's a Ford product, there's ZERO drone. For the $$, I think they're an excellent value.

HOWEVER, were I to buy new cans again, I'd go back to Steeda axlebacks. I had them on my Bullitt & absolutely loved them. Rumor has it they're actually made by Borla but who cares? Much deeper & bassier than the GT500's, far more assertive & authoritarian sounding when you get into the gas, and yet also ZERO drone. Simply an awesome sounding muffler set-up, one I'm a little sorry I didn't spring for on the '14.

I understand the Magnaflow Streets have a similar sound and no drone too but can't personally testify to that.

I've had Flowmasters on previous Stangs and while I think they sound awesome, I've yet to have a set that didn't elicit horrific drone @ cruising speeds. And yday, an '11 GT pulled up next to me, wearing a set of Rousch mufflers- can you say loud & obnoxious? Very boy-toyish if you ask me. Lacked refinement & civility & at 54, I ain't looking for that kind of attention.

For my $$, it's be Steeda first, GT500 cans 2nd, Magnaflow Streets 3rd.
Good luck on your choice.

I went through all the videos and comments myself only to keep coming back to the borla stinger axleback.

super pricey but I went with the buy once cry once idea and I love them. deep exhaust but manageable. will scream when you want them to. I agree with whoever said that this 5.0 will never sound like the 2 valves but the borla adds quite a nice rumble that does what I ask of it.

Borla will hold its value better than a lot of the others IMO as well

our system for your car has ZERO drone, classic american rumble with deep low tones and roars like a dragon at wide open throttle. Check out the youtube video to hear our sound types as well.

good luck and happy motoring!!

Default off road h pipe

Get an off road h-pipe with a tune, leave your stock mufflers. Youll get the sound your looking for.

GT 500s for medium sound Roush axle backs for louder, if you don't want to do the off road pipe.
