Default 2014 5.0 doesn't feel much faster than my old 2005 4.6???

hi my new 5.0 doesn't seem to pull as hard as my 05 did. both cars are stick, and my new 5.0 has less than 5000 miles on it. I'm not sure what the issue could be, does the car have a lock on it until it gets to a certain amount of miles? or is it really not that fast. 0-60 times in 5.0 have been ****ty too (5.6 secs) etc. help!

Maybe gearing, but the 5.0 has a much smoother power delivery, that butt dyno doesn't feel the hit like the 4.6.
As for the 0-60 time, most likely a dose of driver mod, use the track apps to learn the best launch method.

What rear end gear did both cars have? My 2010 GT felt like an absolute dog with the 3:31s.

it has 100 more hp, it is faster. "feel" is subjective

The 5.0 IS fast but you have to "keep the engine on the boil" to enjoy the performance 'cause it's quite lazy at low rpm, and 3.31 axle gears amplify that impression especially in 6th gear. The 4.6 3V has more low rpm torque and, with 3.55 axle gears ('05-'06) and a lighter curb weight, feels lively by comparison when pulling from a low speed in a higher gear.

Yup, it's the gearing, but to be honest I drove a 5.0 and wasn't that impressed, but I think it was mostly due to that insufferable manual transmission. Maybe with an MGW it would feel better, but I simply couldn't get the car to drive properly and it did feel slower than my 4.6, but then again I have 3:73 gears and an MGW shifter.

Honestly, If I wanted the bragging rights to the 5.0 badge I'd just stroke the 4.6 and call it a day. Even if it doesn't make nearly as much power, 10 years of hard driving, track days and drag races have proven it's nearly bullet proof.

The 3-valve SOHC 4.6 L engine was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2005–2008. (Source: Wikipedia)

A Barton shifter bracket alone apparently makes quite a difference.
The one time that I drove a 2011 GT it felt like it had a dual personality; soft below 3000rpm and like a wild animal from 4-7k.
The 3V feels more responsive at low rpm and while it's also an animal from 3.5k rpm upwards, it's more predictable and less likely to bite you.

Feel, schmeel, my 2012 BBP car, with every option and factory 3.73s, went 11.91 at 115 in the 1/4 on a mild 91 tune and a sticky tire. No 4.6 in the world is going to be within a light year of that with the same mods. That is actually fast, not feeling fast.

A 4.6 will do a 12.5 @ 109 with the same mods. Is that within a light year?

In a game measured in tenths and hundredths, giving up 6 tenths and 6 mph is well over a light year.

That looks like, on track, the 2011+ passing the finish line stripe while the 4.6 is at 3/4 track, at best.
