That is nuts! We see triple digits here most of the summer and yet a friend of mine who has an auto can shred 255 tires from a stop. The car is stock other that 17" wheels

Thanks for the insite guys. It's supposed to be 113 today here in Chandler AZ. LOL

Just checked. It's 107.3 and DA is 4571. I have a Krestrel 4000 pocket weather station.

Tires are 235/50-18 ZR Goodrich KW T/A's. Probably off the car this one was traded in for. A Shelby. They are brand new and the car had 7,700 miles when I bought it Saturday.

^ sounds like stock tires. I had the same ones on my 18" Fanblade ford wheels. You should be able to turn them!

My car had black wheels on it before I got it. So these are the original ones or off the one he bought. Not sure.

I also have the stock 18" fanblades from Ford. I think leaving it in drive is just as good as putting it in 1 with TCS off and overdrive off. I am starting to suspect it has something to do with the tune. Like others else have expressed, I feel that the car has enough power to light them up but feels very sluggish in the takeoff. I will the installing the gears soon and getting new tunes for that hoping that it creates a difference.

These autos have no torque from a dig. Especially at 5000'. At the track, I can launch at
1800-2k and not even hear a chirp out of the tires, and that's at 32-34 psi. Traction is the
least of my worries.

With that DA your car is loosing 45-50 hp. If you decide to run your car on a 1/4 mile track, don't expect much better than mid to high 14s with that D/A

Try turning TCS off and dropping it into 1st gear (instead of "D") then just whomp on it from a dead stop. Works for me everytime. If you wait until redline to push into2nd you'll get a chirp into 2nd. I've gotten third once but it's hard to do on Automatics. 3.55 or 3.73 would be even better. The Auto's have an overall taller gearing I believe than manuals so it makes some things harder.

Oh almost forgot, turn the O/D OFF otherwise the tranny will want to shift to a higher gear sooner. (If you leave it on "D") If you drop to "1" and go through the gears "manually" it won't matter.
???? i dont think turning the OD off and putting it in 1st gear isnt going to make any difference.. if you read enough on these forums its been said over and over to just leave it in D and go.. im not 100% sure on the weather the OD being off or on will make any difference, but your not wanting the trans to shift into OD when your going down the track.. i have 20's on my car ,corsa catback, 3.73's, airaid CAI, bama 91racetune. in D w/ the OD on (not that i do this all the time or something) but my car will ROAST the tires if i want from a dig... and it will also chirp all the way to 3rd. putting the shifter in 1st gear wont make much of a difference.. and i doubt that turning th OD off will either... just my pennies.
