Default Harmonic Balancer removal/install

Balancer will arrive today...I have already pulled fan shroud, blade, clutch, water pump and crank pulley. Im picking upthe puller and the 15/16's (24mm) socket to get the crank bolt out. Can I put the car in gear to remove crank bolt w/o the crank turning?

I had to use a big pipe wrench on my old balancer to hold it as I undid the bolt.....make sure you take out the washer too[8D]

exactly the way i did mine..didnt give a crap about the old one so i just looked for something that i could hold it with and the pipe wrench did the trick...sure the impact would be nicer...but we only had he big one at home so i had to comprimise...good luck

well ya the washers behind the bolt..so i gotta take the bolt all the way out..remove the washer...then thread the bolt enough of the way back in that it wont wiggle or anythingn mess up the threads...then used the pulled(if needed)...mine just pretty much slid off lol...

should not of touched the water pump unless bad.

the easy way, put a socket on a breaker bar (24mm) against frame(on the loosen setting), bump the starter, bam, bolt loose.

Take 2-3 pulley bolts toattach the puller to dampner, then the long rod screw, that goes into the puller topull the balancer from crank.

Got the new Ford balancer installed...car is running great now. I think the balancer could of been on its way out over a year ago when I got thecar. I always had minimial vibration at 3000rpms+, now it doen't vibrate at all. It even came w/ a new pointer that made it way easier to read timing marks.
