Guide to remove T-5 manual transmission
Hey, I have seen many guides on AOD to T-5 conversions, and they all seem to assume that you're buying a new T-5 and new clutch and everything. I'm getting mine from my donor car, and none of the guides actually go through the removal of the T-5. Is it similar to the removal of the AOD? Or is it very different?
If anyone knows where I can find a guide for this, that would be great.
Also, anyone point out which fluid is the best? I heard redline is really good, but there are different varieties: http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...19&prmenbr=361
Which one and how many quarts would I need?
Thanks guys.

This 70W80 GL-4 Gear Oil (SAE 5W30/10W30 engine oil viscosity) is designed for use in manual transmissions and transaxles. Provides excellent protection of gears and synchronizers and its balanced slipperiness provides a perfect coefficient of friction, allowing easier shifting. Popular in many BMW transmissions and in most Honda and Acura transaxle applications.

I think I'll stick with ATF per Fords recommendations. And before I would put something other than the Factory recommends in the Tranny I would call the manufacturer ( in this case redline) and see what they recommend for your application. They will not sell you something that will not work or is not made for your car, if they did its an invitation to a law suit.

you do not need atf in a manual tranny, you can use the gear oil, get the mtl

So Ford recommends ATF fluid in their T-5? I read the pdf, and it says that in there too, if it says that in my owner's manual as well, I guess it's true. Redline doesn't sell ATF fluid? I was hoping to buy everything from one source to save on shipping, I don't think Jegs sells Amsoil... Oh well...
