Can't siphon gas tank.

Can't siphon gas tank.
I have a '95 3.8L that I just finished putting a new engine in. It's all ready to go, all I need to do is drain the old gas out of the tank. (It's been sitting for about a year and a half with a 3/4 full tank.) I've tried siphoning the gas out but I can't get the hose down into the tank. It goes in about a foot and a half to two feet and then won't go any further. It feels like it is hitting something anf I can't get past it.
What do I need to do to get the old gas out of this tank?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Can't siphon gas tank.
drill a tap in the bottom. drain it then plug the hole. dont worry the gas will dissipate the heat from drilling. it wont explode. might ruin the drill when the gas hits it though.
really. im not sure how the stangs anti siphon thing works. you might want to try to get the smallest tubing you can find.

RE: Can't siphon gas tank.
1 of 2 ways.
1. disconnect the lines going to the fuel rail and aim them into a gas can or what ever container you were gonna drain it into. than jump the fuel pump relay.
2. get a external fuel pump to suck the fuel out the same fuel lines from the rails.
I would of hooked up a fuel pressure guage with the old motor and used the guage drain offto drain the fuel and let the motor run till the tank was empty, motor would of shut off as soon as there was no gas in the tank.
Ps bad idea about using a drill unless it is a air drill....Electric drill+Sparks from drill motor+fuel=Fire
Hammer and Nail would be safer.
