Steeda 19 vs E303
So I have been planning to put a Steeda 19 in my new engine, but I came up on a perfect cond E303 for $80, wondering if anyone who has either has input on them. I drive the car daily, and never go to the strip.
I know they are neither the hottest cams out there, but I have to smog in California. So what am I looking at with the E303? The website says they recommend 1.6, but what would happen with 1.7s? It also says if I use 1.6s I can use stock pushrods?

I'm running 1.7's with my E303, and there's no issues. E303's sound great, and they sound even better with a set of 1.7's. As long as the lobes are in good shape, I'd probably go for it. That and no rust and all that, but you said it's perfect so should be no issues there.
E-303's are great if you ask me. They are a great starter cam, and aren't picky at all. Pretty much plug and play. I like mine.

Yea, I do, 94-95s hate cams, and the Steeda #19 was designed specifically for the 94/95 ecus that are overly cam sensitive. The Steeda cam is also designed with newer technology making it a dual stage cam, as opposed to the single stage E303. This is a critical part of your engine, just spend the extra $100 and get the better part that's actually designed for your car. Don't get me wrong, E303s will work, but the #19 is the much better/easier way to go IMO.

The only way to know what length pushrods you need is to personally check, nobody can tell you what size you need based on random parts you're running. It is possible the stock length is okay but going with a cam you're going to need stronger than stock valve springs which I would then recommend getting hardened pushrods so the stock garbage doesn't bed and mess up your entire valvetrain, so in a nutshell check the pushrod length no matter what and buy the correct size hardened pushrods.
