RE: Winter Weather and the Short Drop Glass feature
riff, I'm in Itasca, looks like we live pretty close to each other. I actualy ordered off Ebay some other rims and tires and they are enroute as we speak. I plan on using the stock ones that came with the car for the winter unless they dont work well. They have the M+S rating so they should work OK. I plan on putting some weight in the trunk for December through Febuary time frame for added traction.
I traded in an older 1998 Jepp Wrangler when I got my mustang and it had the aluminum mag wheels on it. I wasnt real good about keeping them real clean and after about 3 years they started to erode/pit near most of the seams where the clear coat had worn off or was eroded away from the salt. I know they clear coat the rims to help them weather the storm and I think if you keep up on it and dont let the salt stay on there all winter like I did you should be fine. Maybe a good healthy coat of wax before the weather turns too. I figure on Tuesday I will pay the local Ford dealer service center a visit to see what they have to say about my orginal concern. Should be interesting. I am sure I will be resending Ford my orginal question. Yesterday I washed the car and for the life of me cant see how you will even be able to get into your car if that lower window track ices up.
