+1 Laser is tough to detect due to it's very narrow beam (so narrow that they can tag a headlight and never set off the RD) but there ARE ways to hedge your bets. One is by reducing the laser's "punch-thru" distance with laser absorbing material such as VEIL (passive). Another is to use laser jammers but these are illegal in a number of states and good ones are rather expensive.
Best bet overall is to learn to use a "rabbit" along with your RD. If you're the only guy on the road you're most likely going to get nailed, period.
