Default police interceptor heads???

my 351w came out of a 1991 crown vic and was a police interceptor. i would like to know what actually made it a police interceptor? was it the fact it was a cop car with the 351w? or were there other factors in it being the "police interceptor? like the heads having bigger valves? i have already rebuilt the motor and put it in my car. 88 gt. i'll get some pics on here when i figure out how to do that. lol put anyway i had the heads ported and polished by my mechanic and i guess i should've asked my question about the heads along time ago. just thought i would ask. thanks

There is no such thing as a 351w police interceptor motor. Peoplecall it that because it came out of a police car. Ford stopped installing special engines in police cars in 1972. People just never kept up with the times. They were never small blocks. The heads one your motor are stock E7 heads.

so basically what came in the police car was a 351w. the motor was throttle body injected at the time. nothing special right about the motor.

Yes its a small block. Back in the day they didn't use small blocks as police motors. The heads are not considered e7, its not a 302, but they are just stock heads, nothing special.

cool thanks for the help. my project originally was going back into the crown vic. i wished i would have stroked the motor instead. any idea of estimated horse power for my application? haven't had a chance to have it dyno'd. it's fast! i know that much.

Well I would say maybe 260-275 at the fly but that isn't where your power is. The 351 makes an *** load of torque. Ford racing sells a complete 351 truck motor with stock thermatic heads that puts out 250hp and 350lbs torque so thats where I get my estimate. I wouldn't expect a whole lot more than but maybe I am wrong. Go to a dyno and let us know. Have you ran at the track yet?

my mechanic says i should have atleast 350hp. it seems that all of my power is on the top end. it is really hard t osay. i haven't had the car back but for a month. and so far been scared to go to the track. nervous really. the car really halls *** when u kick the four barrel in. so i put a screw in the linkage to help make the 4 barrel kick in sooner. so basically i have only about 1000 miles on the new motor. and really not sure about what it can do yet. scared the **** outta my wife in it one good time leaving a stop light probably got up to 120mph. speedo stops at 85 and it was beating on the mileage reset button. the carb is set up from the factory and same for the distributor. no adjustments have been made. also if the motor is bored .40 over does that make a 357?
