I have 18" OEM rims with V6 brakes...no issues at all. Not sure where you heard that...but it is not the case.

Its a known issue on the forum.
There are many posts about 18" OEM rims on a V6.
See the pic above of the V6 with 18x8.5s on it.
The clearance is dangerously close unlike the
16x7 and the 17x8 clearances.

That is just my point. Threads get started and people comment (not directed at you) about items they have no personal experience with. It cannot be a known issues on the forum as the issue does not exist.

Being "close" or "dangerously close" is meaningless. The wheels fit. What is the difference between 1/4" of clearance and 1/2" of clearance (I know...a 1/4")...but seriously...nothing moves here...so why worry.

The proof is in my sig. 18" OEM wheels with V6 brakes. No issues. No worries.

If you look hard enough you can find some good deals. Exhaust your options! Craiglist...ebay...MF classifieds and others...
How much do the mounts run?

I have Bullitt take offs with the V6 rotor/bracket combo as well. In my case there was an interference issue. I just ground the bracket down and test fitted until there was no longer an issue.
The second pic 157db posted shows the critical area for anyone contempating this upgrade.

I also have the 18" bullitts on a V6 with V6 brake caliper
mounting brackets and the clearance is paper thin.
Any wear is the front spindle bearings and there will be issues.
No worries??
I also would not advise grinding anything off of the caliper
bracket to fix clearance issues. The brackets are coated
with an anti rust coating and it was removed when the grinding
was done. It also weakens the cast caliper bracket.

wear in the spindle bearing? The wheel, brake caliper and rotor cant move independently
go look at your car or any car. This is also how known issue start. People make mistake and lead others to think its an issue.
