Water pump rotation

Water pump rotation
I was looking for an aluminum water pump and I noticed that some are for "79-85's w/ v-belt pulleys" and "86-93 w/ serpentine pulleys"....
...My '82 GT has a serpentine system, not a v-belt, so that's confusing to me.
Do all serpentine systems have a reverse rotation water pump?
What year did Ford start using that?
Also I have another unrelated question while I'm here.
I'm removing the A/C and Smog Pump and I want to remove the power steering pump as well and block the fittings in the rack.
I know of someone who has done this and he's been driving his car 9 months out of the year for the past 2-3 years with no problems.
I know this isn't advisable and I should just wait until I get a Flaming River Manual rack.
What's the worst that could happen if I did block off my power rack as stated?
Do they dry up and stop working or anything like that?
Did any Fox Body's have a manual rack from factory?
Thanks guys
-Joe

Yeah you're right, that's what I meant to say.
Have you done this, and if so how long do they last?
What's the worst that could happen to it, if it does fail?
Anyone know about the water pump question?
Thanks for the reply man

If someone here has a 302 w/ a serpentine belt that has the Crank/Water pump/Alternator only and can take a picture of the belt routing and/or give me the size of the belt used that would be great.
I want to get rid of everything except for the crank/waterpump/alternator, but I need to figure out which direction my water pump should rotate and what tensioner I need to use, and if I need to relocate the alternator and get different brackets.
So if anyone has a pic or can give me a list of parts or any tips on this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
edit:
car is a 1982 GT w/ 302 H.O. (serpentine)
It currently has a smog pump,A/C, and power steering.
If you need any more info I can post a reply.

Adder,
What tensioner pulley are you using for your set up?
My Uncle has a Capri w/ the same set up as you and I was wondering how he used the stock (reverse rotation) pump.
I would like to utilize the tensioner pulley that I have, otherwise I have 2 options: #1 get a ribbed water pump pulley and the old style (regular rotation) pump and do away with the tensioner pulley altogether, or go with the old V-belt system with the old style pump.
Is your tensioner pulley grooved?
I'm hitting up the junkyard this morning to see if I can find a ribbed water pump pulley.
I think that '79 LTD/Full size Fords have the pulley that I need, but I'm going to check everything I run across until I find one.
I checked ebay, Summit, Jegs, Autokrafters, etc...no one has it.
I did find an underdrive pulley set w/ a ribbed water pump pulley, but that was it.
That kit was to convert from the v-belt to serpentine using the regular rotation pump.
Thanks for all of your help everyone.
edit:
Basically if I can get the same set-up as you, I would only need a ribbed tensioner pulley and a belt. That would be cheaper and less hassle.
What size belt are you using?
Stock diameter pulleys??
How does it provide tension from under the belt as opposed to on top of the belt like stock?
Did you flip the spring around as well?
Thanks
