The context you were using made it seem like, "Well, I'm doing an engine swap, might as well go manual since sh*ts gonna torn out".

Juggy: Haha, of course buying a 5.0 wouldn't be a good idea if you wanted a Turbo 2.3, but this project just seems costly. Now granted i don't know that much about 2.3 IL4s, but a motor/tranny swap is still a motor/tranny swap at the end of the day.
the swap is not that hard or costly. i would just stay automatic because it's not worth the hassle and you'll stay spooled the whole time because you don't have to let off to shift

but the auto is also set to shift at neither a fuel efficiently lower rpm, nor a performance benefitted high rpm. my auto shifts around 3500, which if i was racing id rather it shift around 4-4.5k, and when im crusin, id rather it shifts at 2.5k, that way i save some gas.

Automatics shift based on tps and pressuse, so if you've got it floored it won't shift until redline, and if you're cruising it'll shift at lower rpm's

the reason most ppl prefer turbo's on manual car's is because auto's don't generally stand up to the harder shifts as well.

if your manual stands up to harder shifts better than an automatic, you're not driving it hard enough [8D]

it might just be me, but ive never seen an auto shift at redline that wasnt tuned to. this is with the exception of manual shifting.

I put in a shift kit a couple weeks ago on my auto and it holds to just inside the red. I love it, it makes a world of difference!

Booze also has one, as well as a tuner and he thinks that the same effect is possible with just the tuner, so thats something else to look at.

Personally, I feel a little more comfortable with the kit because the parts included are thicker and will stand up to more.
