exactly what i was thinking but to answer op(bumper) get the m113 kit for 3k and have near 300 depending on a few variables.......or buy a v8 and spend more then 3k and get 250.......its up to you though
Again, if I chose to do the v8, I would have the option to spend more later and get even more than that. I'm guessing it would be more reliable also, but I have no idea what the m113 kit is, so I will have to go check it out and get back to you.
On top of wanting speed, I want my car to remain as reliable as it is. My car (engine and all) is in great condition considering it's age and mileage, and I don't want to put a new engine in, or modify the engine, and suddenly have to fix it every couple of months.
edit: I haven't found any info on a M113 kit yet, could you point me in the right direction?

He meant M112.... using the supercharger off the 03/04 Cobra and putting it on the 3.8L V6. More power than the GT's 4.6L, less cost in the long run.
Would I need to get new pistons, etc. to hold the pressure, or is the stock system strong enough? Also, how reliable is it? Will it slowly wear away at the quality of my actual engine until it kicks out in a year or two?
I've been scouring ebay and craigslist for prices on used GT engines. So far I have found:
Just the engine - anywhere from $350 to $1,350
Whole donor car - from $1,000 to $2,500
There is a chance the one for $350 doesn't have everything I need, but I have a lot more to look at before buying anything.
edit:
keep in mind those are all from different years too. I am looking at anything from 94-04 currently. 99-04 preferred
second edit:
I just looked at the specs again, because I forgot the HP on the different years, and I remembered why I originally decided if I was going to do a swap that I should get something from 99-04, it definitely is not worth it for the 94-98 engines...
94-97: 215 HP
98: 225 HP
99-04: 260HP
I also just checked out the M112 sticky at the top of the forum... I do NOT want to modify my hood or get a new one. I want my car to look exactly the same from the outside when I am done.

Look - I have a complete mark 8 as a donor - what would it take to do the swap into a 1995 3.8l convertible?
You'll need a motor/tranny, wiring harness, ECU, fuel system, front suspension, rear end and a couple hundred in misc parts. Much easier to use a Mustang as a donor for the swap.

I am doing a complete swap on my 98 v6 due to the fact the old v6 has 150k on it and im tired of it mostly. I am building a 98 Romeo Block that was originally a GT motor into a Cobra motor. I can tell you almost everything you will need in order to do this swap. Only thing you have to tell me is how much power you plan on making. If you plan on making over 450 hp then you will need to upgrade the suspension completely which is why it doesnt matter if I start out with a cobra or a v6 because it is all being replaced either way.
there is nothing more gay than a v6 with a v8 in it. its a pain in the ass too. its soooo not worth it. just get a ****ing gt. you will be more happy. with the 6 you will still have the same gay wheels, rear bumper, rear end, suspensions blah blah blah blah
what if they have already uprgraded the wheels, rear bumper, rear end and suspension
