Matthockey knows his stuff. 230 to the wheels is kinda high but I have no reason not to believe him. And by the way, where did you get your cam and did you take any pictures on installation? I'm really interested into getting a cam because its relativly cheap and I heard it gives a nice bang for the buck. I'm not trying to make my car a dragster but just something that people would question it being only a V8. Like 270-280 BHP. I have some mods....MAC cold air intake,MAC air filter,MAC dual xhaust,70mm BBK T/B(w/spacer),MAC shorty headers,DiabloSport tuned chip..... Thats about it cant remember If I bought anything else or not. Well what do you think about a cam and which would you recomend?
Well you can think what you want but I think his numbers are way over inflated. Also, Morana sucks for his selection in cams and his prices are WAY too high. I don't understand why you guys are getting a 70mm TB for your cars, it's not helping you any, in fact it's hurting you. Your engines weren't built to use a 70mm TB, and without porting the intakes at all and especially the upper throttle body inlet, you're causing even more of a lose of power. If you want better products and prices, you'll need to get ahold of RGR or Mikael.

A 70mm T/B hurting your engine???? Well I wonder why a dyno shows it helping then on a non ported engine??? Mustangs and Fast Fords abour 2 months ago has a nice article about V6 Mods. Read It.

I did read it, and they show a net lost. And you don't hurt the engine, you hurt your performance. I'll post what the numbers are later, but the reason you lose performance is because you slow down the speed of the air going through the TB. Your TB has to match your engine perfectly. Just becuase you have a bigger TB and allow more air to get into your engine, it doesn't mean it's going to use it. So what you're doing is causing an abunace of air in your intake manifold, thus slowing down the air because it has no where to go. I'm sorry if I seem like a critic, but I have done everything plus more that you two are talking about and I know what works and what doesn't work on V6 engines, and I'm trying to bring you two to reality. It's not good when the blind lead the blind.

BTW: Don't trust what MM&FF prints, they inflat their numbers just as bad as companies do.

I see where your coming from but wouldnt the spacer help that out? And if so wouldnt a 70mm t/b and spacer be more productive then a stock 56mm??(I think the stocks are 56 or so)

the 70mm TB and spacer is more productive. a TB for a pre-99 v6 is 56mm, a 70mm on those engines will hurt performance, but not on a 99+.

The TB on the stock 94-98 is 50mm and the stock on a 99+ is 60mm. A spacer does almost nothing for your engine. All it does is add runner length for the intake spacer and for the TB spacer it adds plenum volume, but in the wrong areas. But they can create a small amount of torque but at the cost of horsepower. Torque is good down low and for getting you off the line, but once you're moving, horsepower is all that matters. Now your 99+ intake has been engineered for maximum flow for a stock engine, for the layman. Plus 40 hp is quite a bit. In the long run the spacer may end hurting you by causing the air to travel to far and not be able to reach the cylinders. To achieve a better flow in your intakes you need to do some serious porting. You need to remove the two post in the upper's crossover tube, and you need to enlarge the runners about 1/4" atleast to gasket match your intakes. If you ever take your upper apart, have you noticed that the runner holes in the gasket come no where close to the manifold runner holes? And I guess you can say a 70mm is more productive, but that's because it's bigger, it'll always flow more air.

i think we have the TB thing settled. now for the power thing. if i took everything off my car and put it into a similar v6(i.e. same miles, year, tranny) and changed the tune on the chip and took off some of the custom stuf it would not have as much power. i have talked with others on this matter (finallya5.0) and he agreed on everything. somehow the stock driveshaft broke on a hard launch on 27/1050/16 MT e.t. streets. then went the second 7.5 with a similar death. on top of that i am on my second 8.8 rear end, first one broke on launch w/street tires.
