Like I said in the PM, go ahead and spend $100, buy a MOTORCRAFT coil pack and slap it on there.

Yes , especially at idle if the EGR valve is stuck open.
I've not heard of a problem with a coil pack but it's possible, in this case 2 cylinders will be affected. Fords EDIS system is one of the best out there. You can measure primary & secondary resistance of the coils & also leakage to ground.

I'd stick with a stocker, plenty of cars running plenty of power on one, and they seem to last longer than I'd expect any other one to.

Excuse me, I was looking at a Screamin' Demon coil, not MSD...Claims it produces a longer duration spark and allow plug gaps to be opened up to .060" - .065"....

I've heard no advantages over stock.

not worth the money. you could try getting a new coil pack, but like i said before i swapped someones coil that did not have the problem to my car and i still had it. and your symptoms are the exact same as mine. you could try using injector cleaner like i did but it didnt totally cure mine, only fix it a little, and it was 20 bucks i could have used for gas or something
