Default Fuel Gauge

My fuel gauge has been acting up for a few months now. It will just stop at slightly under a quarter tank, I switched where I bought gas from and it fixed it for a bit. Its back to stopping at just under a quarter tank. I know its the float in the gas tank, I am just wondering is the fuel pump and float one unit or can I buy them seperately? Or is there something I can buy to put in with the gas and it will free it up?
