It would be the same. You have to do the same amount of work, minus removing the pinion gear and replacing the bearing. If you're gonna have the t lock installed, just do the gears, too, since it's basically the same job.

you lose maybe 5-10mph. But to be honest, that shouldnt matter at all. You wont ever drive that fast and its damn near retarded.

He's probably talking about the top speed of our cars which is right around 120ish. So your new top speed might be 100. But it would also be slower from 80-110 than with the stock gears.

"that fast" = anything above 90.

What kinds of mods would increase the top speed? I know the govoner kicks my ass at 117mph and the spedometer stops at 120 but i know the engine is capable of a hell of a lot more than that. What kind of mods would help push it higher up there? like say a top end of 150mph?

The govoner is there for a reason man, unless you have a heavily modded engine meaning rebuilding it completely the v6 engine will just pop on you. I know its a tease because it feels like you wanna go faster but really its there to save your car and your ass from walking home. lol

Gears increase acceleration all around, not just the off-the-line acceleration.

And the top speed with 3.73's or even 4.10's will still be in the triple digits, which should be plenty fast enough.

Some things are ALWAYS worth paying to have done by a pro, and gears is one of those things.
some things are always worth trying if you have the knowlage, but im limited by what tools I have, so ill be having someone else do it.

first of all, a tlok is junk, ive blown 2 diffs up all ready, im sure the tlok on my car now (stock gears doesnt really do much its not like you can spin them anyways) will blow out on me this year for sure . (when i sold the car to my buddy i blew up the second open that was replaced under warrenty), ill be going with a detroit next time

second of all, you could go with 4.56 gears and still not acheive the actual top speed of the car, even with 4.10s and a .70 OD your still going to be capable of 170 mph, just not have the power to get there. 4.10s for NA cars, 3.73 for FI set ups

Or 3.73 if you order 4.10 and they're out of stock and backordered for a few months and decide to change the order to 3.73 so you can actually get your parts within the next month
