You don't need to worry about water getting on the motor.

You can make the scoop functional, shouldn't be too hard, just cut it open slight modification the air box, some weather stripping and your done. Wouldn't really accomplish anything though.

Hum.......

Ram air scoops on street cars won't do crap for performance. End of thread. Add a shaker if you want, but it will do nothing for the car besides cost a lot. Adding air into the engine bay from the top for "cooling" actually hurts air flow under the car. Besides, when was the last time people saw an air cooled motor in a Mustang.... anyone???? And hoping to force air into the intake will add about 2 hp @ 100 mph with a stock 3.8L motor.

What next? Brake duct cooling lines?

actually a tech buddy of mine did tests on boost applications including ram air and also electric boost. Anyway he found that in a "efficient ram air system you would have to be traveling in or around 60mph. Just as a fun fact electric "turbos" kill air flow thus reducing engine hp.

Intake air velocity will vary with motor size.

I will only get a shaker scoop and Mach 1 hood if I do the m112 = a damn sexy looking hood.

Dude answer the guys question, he has said repeatedly he doesn't want a shaker and doesn't care if there is no performance gain.

Hes just making a point...thats its not a good idea. Cutting the hood yourself can go south qucikly and whats the point if its just going to mess up air flow in the engine as it is and not do anything performance wise? Is there any reason to still do it other than to tell people when they ask that yes its a functioinal scoop?

It's honestly a thing if you want to do enough to make your car unique then others really. I didn't do it to say it was functional, i did it because i like the more aggressive look it gives, sure the compliments are nice to get when your at a light or gas station but other then that I did it because I had interest in putting on for awhile prior. Plus its the only option i really had for a scoop since it's the reverse style hood on 04s. It's still a CAI which does the same as any other CAI out there so it's not like its completely useless... Just a bit more money for the cool feature. lol...

Couple pics for you:

im not going to be going 200mph.. how bad can it realy "hurt the airflow"? and i want something different from everyone else.

& to Shaunmac9128 i would take the car to a pro. shop to have it cut.. i wouldnt do something like that myself..

thanks for the input everyone
