Default How to make hood scoop functional?

I know I wont get any hp out of it but has anyone cut thru their hood and attached the cai to it? I know they have the shaker system and maybe i could use SOME parts from that to adapt it to fit.. any suggestions?

ps. pic with my winter tires

leave it alone or buy the shaker kit from AM, but that cost a lot of money for a mod that doesn't do anything but boost appearance. I saw some shaker systems on ebay a while back but you would still have to cut through your hood and that might be a risky project if you mess up...

i'd go with the shaker but i already have a scoop & i like it more than how the shaker looks.. and also the scoop on my car is wider than the shaker so i would also be worried about the paint bc under the hood scoop mite not have weathered as much as the rest of the car.. either way im going to use the scoop thats on the car now.. i just dont know if there a special filter i have to get or anything?

Shaker ftw. Little costly to make happen but i stuck it out and dealt with the pain it cost me. Didn't even go out and buy the 03 model hood that say you need to make it happen just had to drill a couple seperate holes under the hood to bolt up the applique to match perfectly. I ended up finding a good deal on the shaker kit on here from a lady who never finished there mini-mach1 project so i got it for like $600 instead of the full price. Looks sweet too when you start the car / shift gears. Next project i wanna do is cam it then it will really shake a little more. It's no noticeable gain compared to an underhood CAI but i get a lot of nice comments out of it cause its visable. As far as what one you should choose its up to you man. Also im almost certain you can make your current scoop functional, just costs money like everything else in this world.

yeah lol i think my only problem will be having the intake line up with the hole in my hood.. bc unlike the shaker which sits on the engine mine goes up with the hood lol

Leave it alone, cut the scoop and tell people its function as heat extraction.

i could do that also but is there any filter or anything i would need? i know the engine is open from the bottom but i was worried about alotttt of water entering thru it.. is there anything that could be ruined by doing this?

maybe you can cut the hood so that air can enter, and then fabricate something so that you can take it on and off for when i rains or snows? sounds good eh?
